Romantasy Incubator — Season One

Romantasy Incubator — Season One

The Enchanted Spine is opening Season One of a small, curated Romantasy Incubator focused on early development.

This is a 12-week development season for original romantasy story worlds, designed with long-term potential for publication and adaptation in mind.

What this is:

A development-focused incubator

A small, curated Season One (3–5 projects)

A space to shape story worlds early and intentionally

What this isn’t:

A writing course

A guarantee of publication

A paid opportunity at this stage

This is for writers and creators with original romantasy concepts or early drafts who are interested in development, collaboration, and long-term thinking about their work — particularly those curious about how stories can grow beyond a first draft.

To apply, you’ll be asked to submit a single PDF (max 10MB) including:

A 1–2 page overview of your story concept

A short description of the world, tone, and central conflict

An optional writing sample (up to 1,000 words)

Submissions close: 13th February 2026 11:59pm

Submit Your Project HERE

Submissions are collected securely via Google Forms. You’ll be asked to upload a single PDF and will receive a confirmation after submitting.

Creators retain full ownership of their work.

If a project is selected and moves forward beyond Season One, The Enchanted Spine intends to act as the originating studio, with first-look and attachment terms discussed and agreed at that stage.

What will I leave Season One with?

By the end of Season One, each selected creator will leave with a clear, tangible development package for their project. This is designed to help you understand your story more deeply and position it for whatever comes next.  These materials are development outputs and are not intended to be final or publication-ready documents.

You can expect to complete:

A narrative bible outlining your world, characters, themes, and long-term story arc

A concise pitch summary (1–2 pages) that clearly explains the heart of your project

A proof piece (such as an opening chapter, scene, or excerpt) to demonstrate tone and voice

A visual moodboard capturing the aesthetic, tone, and adaptation potential of the world

Together, these materials form a pitch-ready foundation that can support future development, publication conversations, or adaptation discussions — whether with The Enchanted Spine or elsewhere.

Season One is about clarity, momentum, and direction. The goal is that you finish the season with a stronger understanding of your story, its potential paths forward, and a concrete set of materials you can continue to build on.
