Description
The Serpent and the Wings of Night is The Hunger Games with vampires and the first book in the New York Times bestselling Crowns of Nyaxia series by Carissa Broadbent. Perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Vampires meet The Hunger Games in the first book of the New York Times bestselling Crowns of Nyaxia series by Carissa Broadbent, a heart-wrenching, epic fantasy of dark magic, bloodthirsty intrigue and enemies-to-lovers romance.
Human or vampire, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always – always – guard your heart.
The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.
But winning won’t be easy, pitting Oraya against the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, she will be forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.
Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father’s crown – and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.
But there’s no room for compassion in the Kejari – and nothing more deadly than love . . .
The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the high-stakes first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, the bestselling TikTok sensation. Continue Oraya and Raihn's story in The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King.

About the Author
Carissa Broadbent has been concerning teachers and parents with mercilessly grim tales since she was roughly nine years old. Since then, her stories have gotten (slightly) less depressing and (hopefully a lot?) more readable. Today, she writes novels that blend epic fantasy plots with a heaping dose of romance. She lives with her husband, her son, one very badly behaved rabbit and one perpetually sceptical cat in Rhode Island. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling Crowns of Nyaxia series, starting with The Serpent and the Wings of Night.

I was pleasantly surprised with how engaging this book was. I hadn't picked up another romantasy/fantasy since Kingfisher (iykyk). After reading all the reviews and the hype around 'the serpent and the wings of the night', I thought why not give it a shot! It was my first time reading a book by Carissa Broadbent.First off defo a spin off of hunger games just with vampires! Love the concept of the Kejari tournament. Secondly, I shipped Rahin and Oraya from the offset and definitely could see the compatibility given Rahin used to be a human vs Oraya who still is one. Love that their love wasnt toxic, yeah sure his choices were very questionable at the end of the tournament but he never gave off any toxic masculinity. If your questioning starting this book, do it! I literally bought the second book in the series when I was only half way through this one..
All I have to say is READ THIS NOW!!This book is my top romantacy book ever. I read it over a year ago and still think about it and have re read it so many times. The plot keeps you wanting more, there’s trails, intriguing but not too heavy politics which I lovedThe writing style was unmatchedStrong, witty fmc who’s a badassMmc who will have you swooningTHE BANTER🔥Strong friendships and familyTHE TENSION and the spice 🔥The ending left me speechless and had me ordering book 2 straight away. This book left me in a such a hangover and to this day I compare every book I read to this. It has yet to be topped!!
4.5 ⭐️Good characters that made the story entertaining to read. Emotional for the FMC at times but she remained strong and resilient.Good twists and the cliffhanger made me want to read the next book.
I absolutely loved this book, and bought the sequel and the inbetween novella before I’d even finished this one - I just knew I’d want to stay immersed in this world! Such a page turner - I finished it in 2 weeks because I couldn’t stop reading! Can’t wait to see where this series goes.
I loved this book! It's so gripping and had me on edge the whole time!I finished a popular 5 book fantasy series and felt lost. As it was my first fiction and fantasy read I didn't think I'd love another book, but I was wrong and I'm now OBSESSED with this series!I love the realistic and subtle relationships throughout. The main FMC is relatable, with a very realistic personality and thought pattern. It's also written in 1st person which i LOVE! Highly recommend
